Hugo, 16 years old, Mieres (Spain). I Wonder #76: Self-interviews under lockdown
Ellen Duthie
At the tme of this self-interview, Hugo had been under lockdown for 50 days with his mother in Mieres (Asturias, Spain).
Since then Spain has started a process of relaxing lockdown, but children will not return to school until September and it is still unclear what the exact arrangement will be.
Are you free? Do you feel free?
Actually we aren’t totally free but we have more freedom than the last fifty days
In what ways are you less free than before the lockdown?
I cannot leave Asturias, I can’t kiss my family…
In what ways are you as free as before?
When I go to the mountains for example.
In what ways do you think your situation is similar to being to prison?
The last 50 days without leaving the house were like being in prison.
Can you imagine living this for a whole year? What would you do to make your life more enjoyable?
If we had to live like this for a whole year, maybe we would need the help of a physicologist.
Do you think this is a situarion we might learn from?
We should live every moment of our lives.
Do you think the goverment made good decisions?
The first days I didn’t think so, but now they are working well.
I Wonder, Self-interviews Under Lockdown is a project by Wonder Ponder inviting 5 to 18 year olds to ask questions and think about the coronavirus crisis and its consequences through self-interviews in audio, written or ilustrated format.
If you want to send a self-interview for us to include it in the project, please read this entry and follow these instructions.
We look forward to hearing from you!
