Valentina, 6 years old, Mexico City. I Wonder #8: (Self)Interviews under Lockdown
Ellen Duthie
Our eighth (self) interview under lockdown arrived from Mexico City. Valentina y six years old and is in Primary 1 in Mexico .
It is a delightful, informative, entertaining, thought-provoking interview, and comes with a great illustration too. In this case, it is her mother Sandra who does the interviewing.
We could mention one thousand quotes from this interview but two will do for now. The first, about the feeling of being confined in a building with potentially grumpy neighbours: “I have to be like an adult: no running, no shouting, I need to walk with normal stems, and be practically sitting down”.
The second quote shows Valentina’s ambivalence with regard to going back to school (eventually): “I’m going to miss my family”.
You can listen to her interview and read along in English in the following video:
I Wonder, Self-interviews Under Lockdown is a project by Wonder Ponder inviting 5 to 18 year olds to ask questions and think about the coronavirus crisis and its consequences through self-interviews in audio, written or ilustrated format.
If you want to send a self-interview for us to include it in the project, please read this entry and follow these instructions.
We look forward to hearing from you!
You can see/read/listen to other self-interviews here.
